Have you watched / can you remember the movie “The Passion of The Christ” directed by Mel Gibson?  The movie has changed lives, inspired hearts, and evoked questions. It brings the Passion of our Lord into public screens and exposed the extraordinary person of Jesus Christ.

A Guide to the Passion was written to help moviegoers, especially Catholic youth, to understand the theological and other creative elements of the movie. What we found most helpful are the 100 questions about what exactly is the Passion of the Christ and answers to the most basic questions you could ask – such as,

  • Is there any hard evidence that Jesus really existed and that the events portrayed in the movie actually took place?
  • Why did God the Father require Jesus to take upon himself such tremendous physical and emotional suffering?
  • But why did Jesus have to die?
  • If He was indeed God, why didn’t Jesus perform another miracle by coming down off the cross? Surely that would have made believers out of His enemies!
  • What is the significance of Jesus’ last words to His mother and the apostle John?
  • Who is ultimately responsible for Jesus’ death?
  • Why did Judas betray Jesus?
